"mazda616" (mazda616)

Maintenance due (tire rotation and oil change - that’s what the wrench means) and needing fuel. For what it’s worth, after this photo, I filled up and only got 13 gallons into the 16 gallon tank. So, the 18 miles of range was erring on the side of extreme caution to say the least. At an average of 28 MPG, 3 gallons would get me 84 miles. I can see why carmakers make the distance to empty ratings exaggerate, though. The first person to run out of fuel repetitively and damage their fuel pump would be all too quick to sue in this litigious society.

Hmm, and I thought Mazda’s were supposed to be reliable.
You have to replace the gas pretty frequently(every 400miles!) and the oil too. Trading mine in for a fiat 500.

Question for you since you have an “older” CX-5. I’m looking at the option of picking up a 13 or even a 14 CPO as they start coming off lease instead of a new one. It looks like the major differences are cosmetic, the new one having the electric emergency brake, and the stereo. Most of that stuff I could care less about, any issues with the infotainment?

I can tell you that the fuel light comes on with about 4-5 gallons left in the tank. Also it has roughly 3 gallons left when it reads 0 miles left. It is the most cautious fuel light I have seen in a car and a tad frustrating.

It’s a tiny bit slow at times but honestly, we don’t have any problems with its functionality. The Bluetooth works just fine and the sound is good. The menus and stuff look kind of old school but as long as they work, I don’t care what they look like. This is on an extremely early build date CX-5, too. Ours is a 2013 but was bought in December 2012.

As long as the bluetooth works I’m pretty happy. I’m just thinking if i go CPO and pick a grand touring I get leather which is so much easier to clean than fabric without going out of my budget.

The ‘14 came with the 2.5L as an option, whereas the ‘13 didn’t. Everything I’ve read states that the 2.0L is frustratingly slow. And the fuel mileage is supposedly the same between the two.

That I didn’t know, so the 13 I drove had the 2.0, I will have to stop in and drive a 14 with the 2.5.

Let me know what you think! I haven't gotten past the research stage, but will be looking in the next month or so.

Ah as a school teacher I’m trying to get everything sort of the actual buying before I have to go back.
